Caramel sauce is a classic indulgence that adds a sweet and buttery finish to many desserts. For those following a vegan lifestyle, making a creamy vegan caramel sauce is not only achievable but also simple!

Makes 1/2 cup | ⏱️ 10 mins | gluten free 🌾
Ingredients:
1/2 cup light brown sugar
1/4 cup vegan butter
1 tbsp maple syrup
1/4 cup full fat coconut milk
1/4 tsp salt
1 1/2 tsp cornstarch
Instructions:
Add the light brown sugar, vegan butter, maple syrup, coconut milk, and salt to a small saucepan.
Stir frequently over low heat until the mixture begins to bubble, which should take about 5 minutes.
When the bubbling begins, gradually mix in the cornstarch and stir for 4-5 minutes or until the mixture thickens.
Remove the pot from the heat and allow it to cool before placing it in a glass jar for storage, where it can be kept for up to a week. The sauce will become thicker in the following hours.
