Ingredients:

  • 350 grams extra firm tofu

  • 2 tbsp olive oil, divided

  • 2 tbsp cornstarch, divided

  • 1/4 cup orange juice

  • 1/4 cup tamari

  • 3 tbsp maple syrup

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1/2 tbsp grated ginger

  • 1 1/2 tbsp chili paste

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 F (180 C).

  2. Begin by squeezing out as much water as you can from the tofu. Tear the tofu into pieces and place them in a large bowl, coating them with cornstarch. Next, add 1 tablespoon of olive oil and mix well.

  3. Place the tofu on a baking tray lined with parchment paper and bake for 25 minutes, turning it over halfway through the cooking time.

  4. As the tofu bakes, combine the rest of the ingredients: orange juice, tamari, maple syrup, 1 tablespoon of olive oil, grated ginger, chili paste, and the remaining 1 tablespoon of cornstarch.

  5. Transfer the baked tofu to a frying pan and pour in the sauce. Stir-fry on medium heat until the sauce thickens.

  6. Serve with rice, cucumber, and either pickled onion or pickled cabbage.
